Abstract

The Islamic Revolution, beyond its historical instances and in its philosophical concept, is realized through three fundamental pillars whose roles and effectiveness in the revolutionary process have been analytically examined by some contemporary political philosophers. The identification of these pillars and the analytical study of their nature and impact pave the way for formulating a general model of revolution, independent of temporal and spatial contexts. This study seeks to answer the fundamental question: How do contemporary political philosophers provide an argumentative analysis of the foundational pillars of the Islamic Revolution and their effectiveness? Accordingly, this research focuses on presenting the arguments that contemporary thinkers, within the framework of Islamic political philosophy, have offered to explain the pillars of the Islamic Revolution. Using a reasoning-based method that analyzes fundamental data from the works of contemporary political philosophers, this study provides a comprehensive account of the essential pillars underlying the realization and continuation of the Islamic Revolution. Political philosophers have analyzed the Islamic Revolution in terms of three fundamental pillars: The first pillar is the school of thought or ideology, which influences the revolution by internalizing it, motivating the people, creating social cohesion across different strata, and offering transformative teachings. The second pillar is leadership, which, through directive leadership, inspiring a spiritual revolution within the nation, presenting a love-based model of communication, field guidance of the revolution, and attracting divine assistance, plays a crucial role in the revolution. Finally, the people are considered a pillar of the revolution through their contribution to the revolution’s identity and their role as the driving force in the revolutionary process.
