Abstract
The paper deals with the relationships between freedom and security, proposing three approaches: the priority of security over freedom, the priority of freedom over security, and the interaction between freedom and security. The writer focuses on the third approach and studies it according the political thought of Imam Khomeini. He believes that, according to Imam Khomeini’s opinion, the relationship between freedom and security is an interactive type. On the one hand, freedom helps guarantee security and, on the other hand, security, too, provides grounds for the realization of freedom for individuals and institutions.
