The process of building national cohesion in Iran: a historical-sociological approach

Abstract

The aim of this study is to provide an objective and sociological understanding of the development of national cohesion in Iran using the sociological concepts of Durkheim (mechanical and organic correlation) and David Lockwood (social integration and system integration). Using these concepts, the present article tries to show that national social cohesion is not a natural and pre-existing thing, but an industrial thing that is built on the horizon of the future. In historical experience, we see social and state-building trends in the field of national cohesion. This process has dialectically contributed to the development of national cohesion. To move from this controversial process and establish a stable relationship between social and systemic integration, we need the convergence of the rules governing social and systemic integration

عملیة بناء التلاحم الوطنی فی إیران مقاربة تاریخیة سوسیولوجیة

یهدف البحث الراهن عبر استخدام المفاهیم الاجتماعیة لدورکهایم (التماسک الآلی والعضوی) ودیفید لوکوود (التکامل الاجتماعی وتکامل النسق) إلى تقدیم فهم موضوعی واجتماعی لعملیة تشکیل التلاحم الوطنی فی إیران. یُسعى فی الورقة، باستخدام هذه المفاهیم، فی إظهار أنّ التلاحم الوطنی لیس أمراً طبیعیاً وقائماً مسبقاً بل هو أمر صناعی یُصطنع فی أُفق المستقبل. نلاحظ فی التجربة التاریخیة العملیات الاجتماعیة وبناء الدولة فی مجال التلاحم الوطنی. وقد ساعدت هذه العملیة بشکل جدلی فی تعزیز التلاحم الوطنی. ومن أجل اجتیاز هذه العملیة الجدلیة وإقامة علاقات مستقرّة بین التکامل الاجتماعی والنسقی نحتاج إلى تقارب القواعد التی تحکم التکامل الاجتماعی وتکامل النسق.
