Drawing a Dynamical Model of the Deprivations that induce Ethnic Violence (with a focus on Global Research)

Abstract

The present research draws a systemic model of the formation of ethnic violence. In this dynamical model, ethnic violence is induced by varieties of deprivations and impoverishments, leadership, the phenomenological environment of the ethnicity’s mind, governmental suppression, international factors, demographic factors, and enticements for riots. The roles of the varieties of violence-inducing deprivations have been specified in this model as well as their relations with other variables. The method of the research is descriptive and analytic. In the first step, an analysis is provided for the role of governmental crackdown, the government’s perception of the notion of riot, and its impact on political, social, demographic, and cultural-social discriminations. On the other hand, identity enticements for riots and the variable of the leadership of an ethnic group are also characterized as factors contributing to the rise of ethnic violence. On the next level, ethnic population density in a particular geographical region as well as international support for an ethnic group are described as variables contributing to ethnic violence. On the final level, the systemic model of the rise of ethnic violence and riots as well as their associated variables are introduced, in addition to factors such as the prominence of ethnic identity, globalization-caused deprivations, the group’s perception of the riot process, and enticements for riot as contributing to ethnic violence. It seems that a proper connection of this social system and specification of the variables contributing to ethnic violence are serious steps toward a proper management of contradictions on the world and regional stages. The systemic model presented in this research can be deployed as a theoretical framework for studying the global ethnic groups.

رسم نموذج حرکی للحرمان المؤدّی إلى العنف العِرقی (مع الترکیز على الدراسات العالمیة)

الهدف من البحث الراهن هو رسم نموذج منهجی لتشکیل ظاهرة العنف العرقی. فی هذا النموذج الحرکی، یتأثر العنف العرقی بمختلف أنواع الحرمان، والقیادة، والبیئة الظاهراتیة للعقل العرقی، والقمع الحکومی، والعوامل الدولیة والدیموغرافیة، وحوافز التمرد. کما تم تحدید دور أنواع الحرمان المختلفة التی تؤثر على العنف فی هذا النموذج وتم توضیح صلتها بالمتغیرات الأُخرى. منهج البحث وصفی تحلیلی، وفی الخطوة الأُولى، تم تحلیل دور القمع الحکومی، وفهم الحکومة لمفهوم التمرد وأثره على التمییز السیاسی والاجتماعی والدیموغرافی والثقافی الاجتماعی. من ناحیة أخرى، تم تقدیم حوافز الهویة للتمرد ومتغیر قیادة المجموعة العرقیة کمؤشرات فعالة على تشکیل العنف العرقی. على المستوى التالی، تم تقدیم الکثافة السکانیة العرقیة فی المنطقة الجغرافیة وکذلک الدعم الدولی للمجموعة العرقیة کمتغیرات مؤثرة على العنف العرقی. وفی المستوى الأخیر، تم تقدیم النموذج المنهجی، وتشکیل العنف والتمرد العرقی والمتغیرات ذات الصلة، کما تم تقدیم مؤشرات مثل بروز الهویة العرقیة، والحرمان الناتج عن العولمة، وتصور المجموعة لعملیة التمرد، وبروز الهویة العرقیة وحوافز التمرد باعتبارها متغیرات أخرى تؤثر على العنف العرقی. یبدو أنه من خلال ربط هذا النظام الاجتماعی بشکل صحیح وتحدید المتغیرات المؤثرة على العنف العرقی، یمکن اتخاذ خطوة جادة للإدارة الصحیحة لهذه النزاعات فی الساحتین العالمیة والإقلیمیة. کما یمکن استخدام النموذج المنهجی المقدّم فی هذه الورقة کإطار نظری لدراسة المجموعات العرقیة العالمیة.
